Developer inXile Entertainment have unveiled a new trailer that explores more of their upcoming game Torment: Tides of Numenera’s in-game combat. While combat may not be the be-all, end-all of player interaction — with emphasis placed once more on conversations had and solving issues with a mix of persuasion and deception alike — the latest trailer shows off more of the branching skill tree as well as special/magic abilities dubbed Cyphers that have a range of both offensive and defensive capabilities.
However these overpowered abilities come at a cost; limited to only one use as well as having a negative effect on your attributes should you carry around too many at one given time. But even during combat, players can still persuade enemies to stop fighting meaning the game’s diplomatic gameplay doesn’t end at the fail state of a conversation. Check out the trailer below. Torment: Tides of Numenara will launch on February 28 for PS4, Xbox One & PC.
