Battlefield 1: They Shall Not Pass Details Released

EA and DICE have finally divulged details about Battlefield 1’s first DLC expansion, They Shall Not Pass.

They Shall Not Pass is the first expansion for Battlefield 1, and is bringing a heaping amount of new content to the game. Anyone familiar with the Battlefield franchise will understand how an expansion works. You’ll get four multiplayer maps, new weapons, and a new game mode. As such, the amount of content here shouldn’t be that surprising. In fact, Battlefield 1 expansions will come with even more content as DICE continues to add new Elite Classes and Behemoths.

Here are the four maps coming with They Shall Not Pass

  • Verdun Heights – The opening barrage of the Battle of Verdun created massive forest fires in which players will fight for domination. This is an uphill battle towards the massive fortresses of Verdun. A constant grinding struggle where the artillery never stops. Where the forge and “the Devil’s Anvil” continues to consume even the bravest combatants.
  • Fort Vaux – The first big engagement inside a fort during World War 1 takes place in the dark underworld of Fort Vaux. Down in the maze of dark galleries and wet stone corridors, French and Germans fight ferociously with grenades, guns, bayonets, and flamethrowers. Watch your corners!
  • Soissons – Take part in one of the biggest tank assaults of World War 1. The French 10th Army moves to take back Soissons using their powerful Saint Chamond tanks. Planes, tanks, and infantry clash in the beautiful French countryside in the early hours of a hot summer day. Only the thunderstorm is louder than the war.
  • Rupture – In dire need to capture key bridges across the Aisne river, the French find themselves back into battlefields where poppies grow over a rusty wreck from previous tank battles. It might seem calm but this maze of steel beasts provides an excellent place for those who plan an ambush. As the sun sets over Fontenoy, the battle wakes up.

They Shall Not Pass officially makes the French Army a playable faction. It will also bring in the new Frontlines game mode, which is a mix of Conquest and Rush. Both teams fight for one flag at a time and when the objective is captured the battle moves onto the next. Capturing the enemy’s control point initiates a Rush-style section where the attackers need to destroy telegraph posts. This sounds like the perfect mode to try out the new St. Chamond tank, the most heavily armed allied tank of the war.

Also coming with the expansion are a new Behemoth and Elite Class. The Behemoth is the Char 2C tank, a monstrous French tank capable of turning the tide of a battle. The Trench Raider is the new Elite Class and is focused on melee. He wields a brutal Raider Club and in impressive amount of grenades.

Battlefield 1: They Shall Not Pass is out sometime in March. Owners of the $49.99 Premium Pass will get the expansion two weeks early.
