Some gamers think that text adventures died years ago. The opposite is true, as ever since the days of Infocom there have been people creating new titles in a small, but devoted community.
Bob Bates, best known for his work writing Eric the Unready and TIMEQUEST, is making his return with Thaumistry: In Charm’s Way. This comedy title focuses on an idea-stumped inventor named Eric. As with classic text adventures, the game features no visuals and a text parser interface to drive gameplay.
Thaumistry: In Charm’s Way requires $25,000 in funding to succeed. Thus far, they’ve already raised half their goal and still have until February 21.
