GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is currently in closed beta. Soon, that beta will receive a patch adding a new playable faction called Nilfgaard. For those less versed in world lore of The Witcher 3, GWENT started out as a mini-game in the third installment of The Witcher RPG series. In its original mini-game incarnation, one of the playable factions players had access to was that of the in-universe, aggressively imperialistic nation of Nilfgaard. However, when the standalone GWENT game became playable, it did not feature Nilfgaard at all. But on February 6, the ranks of the Nilfgaardian army will march into GWENT’s closed beta, bringing their board-controlling play-style and spying intrigue with them. Of course, the other four factions will be receiving additional cards of their own in the upcoming update, as well as faction-free neutral cards.
For those less versed in the game of GWENT, there’s a new 60 second instructional video on the game below. The Nilfgaardian update is due out February 6. GWENT’s closed beta is available on PC and Xbox One.
