Coming up on its release in just over a week, Koei Tecmo has released a new video for Nioh, showing off a rather devious rendition of historical figure Edward Kelley. If you’re not familiar with the name, Edward Kelley was an occultist in the late 1500s who believed to commune with spirits. Kelley was also an alchemist who believed his abilities could turn simple materials into valuable metals.
With even the protagonist of the game being William Adams, it’s fascinating how much of history Nioh is pulling from, creating a rather intriguing narrative in the process. This video shows a scene (available at 4K) between Adams and the morphing Kelley.
Nioh will be available February 7 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
