EA CCO, Peter Moore, has revealed some more details about the upcoming FIFA game for Nintendo Switch.
The Nintendo Switch is right around the corner, but third-parties haven’t had too much to say about the platform. Very few have announced games for Nintendo’s new console, and those that have haven’t had much to say since the reveal event. One of those is EA who is bringing a FIFA game to the platform, but haven’t had anything else to show or talk about. Thankfully, Chief Competitive Officer Peter Moore has shed some light on the upcoming game.
Speaking with Gamereactor at a FIFA event in Paris, Moore confirmed that FIFA on Switch will be FIFA 18. Furthermore, he hinted that it might launch around the same time as the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 versions. FIFA games typically launch in September.
“Well, as we have said, we are custom-building a FIFA version for the Nintendo Switch,” Moore told Gamereactor. “It will be FIFA 18, and it will obviously be later this year when FIFA 18 comes out.”
The site also pushed Moore for details on the Switch version. Specifically, they wanted to know whether Switch owners would be getting something similar to PS4 and Xbox One, or a port of the PS3 and Xbox version. Moore would only say that FIFA on Switch will be a custom built version.
“What you have will be a custom built version for the Nintendo Switch from the FIFA development team in Vancouver.”
FIFA for Switch is currently the only game EA has planned for Nintendo Switch. The company has already shot down the chance of Mass Effect: Andromeda appearing on the platform. EA also appears to be in no hurry to bring the likes of Battlefield or Titanfall to the platform. Future support from EA for Switch will likely depend on how well FIFA performs.
