According to a public shareholder slideshow presented by Activision Blizzard’s investor site Destiny 2 is still planned for a 2017 release. Media and fans alike have speculated over when the game’s sequel would launch and while we still don’t have a definitive release date this does shed some light on Bungie’s roadmap.
“Full Destiny sequel in 2017 to broaden the franchise’s global reach, which along with follow-on content plans, sets the stage for growth”
Destiny is one of Activision Blizzard’s largest and most successful franchises according to the slideshow so it’s no surprise that a sequel has been in the works. Rumored for 2017 for quite some time now, fans have been wary that Destiny 2 may slip into 2018. Bungie has been silent about what this sequel looks like in comparison to the original, but it’s expected that Destiny 2 will feature an open world with quests and NPCs much more akin to a standard MMO which is definitely in Activision Blizzard’s wheelhouse.
Destiny 2 will launch this year for not only Xbox One and PlayStation 4 but PC as well for the first time ever.
