March’s Humble Monthly Bundle Brings Warhammer, One Piece

Well, it’s the first Friday of the month again, so time to virtually unbox the latest batch of games from Humble Monthly. Now, this month’s crop falls on the same day of the Nintendo Switch’s release, along with that of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and falls right in between the releases of Horizon: Zero Dawn and NieR: Automata. So with that much highly-anticipated, high-quality video game action to compete with, can the Humble folks match that level of power this go around? Long story short: No. No, they definitely won’t be taking attention away from that lineup. But it’s still a pretty solid crop of game nonetheless, so let’s take a look.

The heavy hitters this month involve a pair of popular franchises, beginning with Total War: Warhammer, the acclaimed strategy game that gives the classic fantasy series the Total War treatment, with enjoyable results (and which arrives just in time for the sequel to begin developement). Then we have One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3, a beat-’em-up that tells that entire story so far of the classic manga/anime. And to provide a sequel to go alongside these long-running names as well, we have Space Run Galaxy, the sequel to 2014’s Space Run, which sees a twist on the tower defense genre as you craft your own spaceship for some interstellar trucking.

Outside of those familiar faces, we have Rive, Two Tribes’ final game and a mighty fine shooter/platformer at that, crazed bridge-building simulator Poly Bridge, and the minimalist yet intense Early Access local multiplayer game Flat Heroes. Making its Humble Monthly Debut this time around is Morphblade, a little strategy/puzzle game from the designer of Gunpoint, and this month’s Humble Original is Uurnog, a stylish 2D platformer that looks to have some unique twists.

In other words, nothing to tear you away for this first quarter’s deluge of big-name titles, but still some games definitely worth checking out. But for those of you who wanted more beautiful worlds of mystery to explore, the first revealed game for next month’s bundle is The Witness, available to play as soon as possible for new subscribers or those who pay early, as usual. And we’ll be back next month to check out the rest as well so stay tuned!
