Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night creator and project lead Koji Igarashi confirmed that there will no longer be a Wii U release of the game, and it is officially cancelled in favor of the Nintendo Switch.
The announcement was on the game’s Kickstarter page, where Igarashi made a statement regarding the cancellation of the Wii U version of the game:
“During our Kickstarter campaign, the Wii U was at the height of its popularity, but the situation has drastically changed after the release of Nintendo Switch.
This change made it difficult to receive the necessary support from the hardware maker, which has led us to drop the Wii U development and shift the development to Nintendo Switch.”
However, if a backer did select the Wii U version, they are offered the chance to choose another platform, or receive a full refund.
An update for Bloodstained is scheduled on the Kickstarter, giving more depth to the three protagonists.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is scheduled to release on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PC, Mac, Linux, and PS Vita in 2018.
