[Update]: Jason Schreier has sent out a follow-up Tweet noting that Destiny 2 will not be revealed today. While he noted that the poster is still real, he jumped the gun on when it would release.
[Original Post]: What appears to be a poster for Destiny 2 has been leaked, and an official announcement could come very soon.
Italian retailers have leaked marketing materials for Destiny 2, confirming the naming of the sequel. The always reliable Jason Schreier of Kotaku has said that the poster is real. Furthermore, he claims that Destiny 2 is likely to be announced today.
The poster, leaked by an Italian retailer, has a few interesting new details. The three classes from the first game – Titan, Warlock, and Hunter – will return. Taking a closer look at the poster you’ll notice that all three characters have their helmets off, which might mean players can opt to not wear a helmet into battle. It also confirms that Destiny 2 will have a beta, and will launch September 8 in Europe. It is unknown if that is a worldwide release date, or if the game will launch on Tuesday, September 5 in North America. Reports indicate the game will be a total overhaul, and that it will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Obviously, this all needs to be taken with a huge grain of salt until Bungie and/or Activision make an announcement. However, previous expansions were leaked in a similar fashion, and Jason’s track record is pretty good.
We’ll let you know should Bungie or Activision make any announcement today regarding Destiny 2.
