ARK: Survival Evolved just received some major updates in Steam thanks to Patch 256. This update introduces a lot of new content to the world of ARK including vacuum-sealed underwater bases and aquatic creature breeding, TEK teleporter pads and wireless generators, and four powerful creatures. There is also a major overhaul to the game’s UI, making navigation of the in game menus and managing one’s inventory much more user friendly. The four new creatures added are the Equus Magnus, which is a larger ancestor of the modern horse, the Leedsichthys Conviviumbrosia is an enormous fish that is a renewable source of delicious meat, the Ichthyornis Piscoquus is basically a seagull that can be trained to be bring the player fish, and the Iguanodon Vicissitudinis, a herbivorous dinosaur that resembles the Parasaurolophus.
ARK: Survival Evolved is implementing TEK Tier is multiple phases, with the newest phase introducing new structures TEK Power Generator, TEK Underwater Base, and TEK Teleporter, and item TEK Mosa Saddle, which allows the Mosasaur to be equipped with laser beams. TEK Tier content is a wave of sci-fi-themed, end-game features that reward hard-working Survivors with awesomely futuristic gear and guns. Players wanting TEK Tier loot will need to gather the newly introduced Element resource, which is granted after successfully completing Boss Arenas. Each Boss now has three difficulty levels (easy, medium, hard) and after defeating the respective Boss are awarded with unique TEK Knowledge engrams, element and other general Boss Rewards. Collect the Element, then use the TEK Replicator to craft all TEK items.
ARK: Survival Evolved is in development for Xbox One via the ID@Xbox program, Steam Early Access and PlayStation4. The game is currently playable in on all three platforms, which includes Oculus Rift VR support and an integration of Steam community features such as Steam Economy and Steam Workshop for custom maps and mods.
