8-Bit Bayonetta Drops Out of Nowhere on Steam

Something that would usually sound like a fake April Fool’s Day story turns out to be serious. Sega and Platinum Games announced an 8-bit Bayonetta game on Steam. The game is actually real and free to download and play on the service. The game is rather simplistic compared to the console games. Bayonetta cannot move around freely, but can only jump and shoot incoming angels.

Despite the simplicity, 8-Bit Bayonetta can still be quite challenging. The objective is too rack up as high of a score as possible arcade-style and there are also achievements for extra incentive. This news seems to have come out of the blue. Many suspect this is a tease for something larger for the Umbra Witch down the line.

Could we see a Bayonetta 3? Only time will tell.
