After a long hard fought battle, The Cloaked Ascendancy has been defeated and the city of Neverwinter enjoys a brief respite. Extremely brief, it appears, as the wacky hijinks of the Ascendancy had even farther reaching consequences than initially realized. Beneath the River District, a dragonborn necromancer has been released due to the ancillary machinations of the previous villains. Using the power of the Shroud of Souls, she now controls an army of wraiths, and is in the process of recruiting even more malevolent spirits to lead her forces.
This is the set up for the next expansion to Cryptic’s free to play MMO, Neverwinter. Set to see release to PC on May 2, this new module will feature a new campaign story line for players to conquer, tying off the final threads from the previous pack, The Cloaked Ascendancy. As always, the campaign additions are only part of the improvements.
With this pack, players will finally have the much requested loadouts feature. This will allow players to create custom character build, complete with equipment, so that it’s a simple matter to swap between PvP and PvE equipment sets. There will also be new improvements to the Strongholds feature, including a dynamic Siege and a new customizable Guild Hall social space. While this expansion will only be hitting the PC version on May 2, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 editions is also in the works, and is expected to hit later this spring.
