Ninety-five days in, 2017 is shaping up to be one of the best years for gaming in a long time. With releases such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Nioh, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and NieR: Automata, just to name a few, the year has started off astonishingly well. One game that’s getting a lot of attention is the lengthy and highly addicting JRPG, Persona 5. Not only has it been critically received, but it seems like Atlus has hit gold with the fifth title.
The Japanese-based developer and publisher has announced today that Persona 5 has shipped over 1.5 million copies worldwide. While we don’t know the breakdown per region, the Japanese release that occurred over half a year ago, saw around half a million in the first month. This is an incredible achievement for both Atlus and the franchise, with a live concert being planned for August 2 in Yokohama, Japan in celebration for the game’s global success.
Persona 5 is available right now for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.
