Sledgehammer Games to Showcase Call of Duty: WWII Multiplayer at E3 2017

Sledgehammer Games provided a sneak peek at the multiplayer component for Call of Duty: WWII at their worldwide premiere event.

While the majority of the Call of Duty: WWII reveal was focused on the single player campaign, Sledgehammer did give us some tantalizing details about the multiplayer component. First off, based on the setting, we know that WWII will be a boots-on-the-ground multiplayer experience. Like the campaign, the multiplayer will be a visceral and gritty experience, and bring plenty of new features and mechanics to the Call of Duty experience.

War is a new asymmetrical game mode that will ship with the game. Players on both teams will scramble to capture and defend key objectives. Next up are Divisions, which is a brand new way for players to approach their multiplayer careers. They’ll be able to sign up in specific units of their choice. Finally, we have Headquarters, which Sledgehammer teased in an extremely short video. This will essentially be an open living space where players can connect, compete, and have fun outside of matches.

There was no word on whether or not Supply Drops and the microtransaction CoD Points will be returning.

We won’t have to wait long to see the multiplayer in action. Sledgehammer Games revealed that multiplayer will be on the show floor at E3 2017, making this the second Call of Duty game to showcase multiplayer at the show (Black Ops III being the first). For those who can’t be at E3, Sledgehammer will be hosting a closed multiplayer beta later in the year. You’ll get access to it if you pre-order any version of the game.

Call of Duty: WWII is out November 3 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
