Neverwinter Hits 15 Million Players

Having been singing the praises of Cryptic’s Neverwinter for quite awhile, this little tidbit is kind of cool in my book: Neverwinter has hit a total of 15 million players across PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Considering the size and scope of the game, this isn’t a paltry number.

“The success of Neverwinter on so many platforms and in so many countries shows how strong the D&D global community is,” said Nathan Stewart, Brand Director of Dungeons & Dragons. “Partnering with Cryptic and Perfect World to bring our annual stories to life in such a visibly stunning way has allowed D&D players to experience the Forgotten Realms like never before.”

Normally, I would be hesitant to say anything about this type of chest thumping, but the crew at Perfect World and Cryptic Studios put a lot of hard work into building out a seemingly endless MMORPG. The fact that it’s free to play but balanced enough to give cheapskates even footing with the people who shell out, at least in my experience, is something worth noticing.
