343 Industries have confirmed that the next major title in the Halo franchise won’t make an appearance at E3 2017.
Halo 6 sounds like it would be the perfect showcase title for Project Scorpio. Halo is the Xbox’s biggest first-party IP after all, and it has been two years since the franchise’s last main entry, Halo 5: Guardians. Alas, while there likely will be a Halo 6, we won’t be seeing at E3 2017.
343 Industries community manager Brian Jarrard took to Reddit to quell expectations. While 343 will have something to show us at E3 2017, it won’t be Halo 6.
“I’ll slip into my Dreamcrusher persona for a minute in the name of realistic expectations: We’ve said this already but we’ll have a little something at E3 but it’s not related to the next major entry in the franchise.”
What 343 will actually bring to E3 2017 remains a mystery. Despite the fact that its been nearly two years since Halo 5: Guardians launched, the game is still going strong. 343 has been supplying the game with plenty of new content and features over the past two years, and the game has maintained a healthy community. While we’ll have to wait a bit longer for Halo 6, at least we still have Halo 5 multiplayer to kill time.
Microsoft will host their E3 2017 press conference on Sunday, June 11 at 2pm PT. It is then that we’ll likely see what 343 has in store for us.
