The Witcher series is being adapted into an English language drama for Netflix via CG visual effects company Platige Image.

Andrzej Sapkowski, the father of The Witcher may not have been involved with CD Projekt RED’s adaption of his eight-novel fantasy epic, but that isn’t the case for the Netflix adaption. “I’m thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories, staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing,” said Sapkowski.
The executive producer will be Sean Daniel (The Mummy franchise) partnered with Jason Brown (The Expanse). Oscar nominated and BAFTA winning Tomek Baginski (who happened to do all three of the game’s opening cinematics) and Jared Sawko from Platige Image, will have their hands fully on the project, with Baginski directing at least one episode per season.
While no cast or release date has been announced, the series is at least in production. Which is the most exciting news. For everything there is to love about the Witcher, those cinematic openings are still some of my favorites. If that’s even a taste of what can be expected this television adaption will be just as good.
