In the usual “one more thing” manner during today’s Destiny 2 live-stream unveiling, Activision made the surprise announcement that the PC version of the game will only be made available through Blizzard Entertainment’s own distribution platform, Battle.net (or Blizzard App as it’s more commonly known following the recent rebranding). Though Blizzard have stated that users will be able to spend credit they currently have on the platform to purchase the game — the company helping to support the game’s more social aspects on the server end with Bungie maintaining server control of the game’s main online functionality — details as to its availability were a little less clear.
Both Bungie and Blizzard appear to imply that the PC version will not release alongside its console iterations on September 8, simply stating that “Bungie is actively working through the global details” and that additional information will be shared later this year. It’s not out of the realm of possibility, but PC players may have to accept a slightly longer wait for Destiny 2. The game will also be available on PS4 & Xbox One.
