See More of Hope County in Far Cry 5’s Announcement Trailer

In case you couldn’t tell, Far Cry 5 already has us hyped just mere days into its reveal. So much, in fact, that we forgot about the actual trailer revealing it all for a brief moment! Our apologies, but we have the trailer here now, which you can check out below. It shows off Hope County as being your typical American small town, with the baseball field, the general store, the pristine lake for fishing, the crazy guy in the with religious imagery carved into his body yelling in the street and forcibly baptizing people, the quaint water tower…

Yes, the first full trailer for Far Cry 5 shows off the setting quite nicely, with the Rockwell-esque imagery contrasted with what almost feels like a Red Dawn-style invasion by Father Joseph and his cult. Speaking of which, the whole thing is accompanied by some monologuing from our antagonist (and an increasingly intense rendition of “This Land Is Your Land”), complete with a shot of him from behind right before the end. Undoubtedly, we’ll get a full first-person introduction to Joseph and his insanity later on, but for now, make sure to check out the trailer here along with the additional character trailers, then check out our initial preview and our discussion with Ubisoft’s Dan Hay about the game, and stay tuned to Hardcore Gamer for more coverage on Far Cry 5 between now and its February 27, 2018 release date.
