Splyce Win Call of Duty World League Stage 1 Playoffs

Splyce managed to put all of Europe on their shoulders and win the Call of Duty World League Stage 1 playoffs.

Every top-seeded team in the CWL fell to the loser’s bracket after Day One of the competition. In the end, it was Splyce vs Luminosity Gaming facing each other in the Grand Finals and the bulk of the $700,000 prize pool. Splyce took down Luminosity 3-2 in the GF and claimed the number one spot.

Here are the rankings after the CWL Stage 1 Playoffs:

  4. OpTic Gaming
  5. eUnited
  6. Enigma6
  7. Evil Geniuses
  8. Team EnVyUs

These eight teams and the next four automatically qualify for the CWL Global Pro League Stage 2. Stage 2 of the CWL begins on June 29. Before that, The last-place teams from each group will be will be attempting to re-earn their CWL position in a Relegations Tournament against the top teams based on CWL Pro Points.  One team from the APAC and Europe will join two teams from North America to compete for the opportunity to face the last-place group stage teams. The top four teams from the Relegation tourney will be placed into the CWL Stage 2 Playoffs.

Securing a spot in the CWL Stage 2 Playoffs also earns you a spot in the 2017 CWL Championships taking place August 9-13 in Orlando, FL. All of the teams that don’t make it to Stage 2 still have a shot at the Championships by competing in the Last Chance Qualifiers for their region. The LCQs go as follows:

  • EU: Runs July 1-3 at the Gfinity Arena in London. The top 16 teams from Europe based on CWL Pro Points will battle it out, and the top six teams from the event will go to the CWL Championships. Roster lock deadline is June 26th. EU players can register here.
  • APAC: Runs July 7-9 in Melbourne, Australia. The top 16 teams from the Asia/Pacific region based on CWL Pro Points will compete, and the top two teams will head to the CWL Championships. Roster lock deadline is June 26th. APAC players can register here.
  • NA: Set for July 25 at the MLG Arena in Columbus, Ohio, where the top 16 North American teams based on CWL Pro Points will compete for a chance to be one of the eight teams sent to the CWL Championships from this qualifier. Roster lock deadline is July 10th. NA players can register here.
