Yomawari: Midnight Shadows Gets Spooky Launch Trailer, Japanese Release Date

Yomawari: Night Alone was one of the better surprises of 2016, so when a sequel was announced it was reason to get excited.  Now there’s a Japanese trailer showing off the new game and it looks to be more of the same, which isn’t a bad thing at all.

The two girls Yui and Haru are separated in a creepy town after dark, running and hiding from the strange ghostly creatures that manifest from the darkness.  Japan’s supernatural menagerie is weird and varied, so there’s plenty of different threats, jump-scares, and bizarre hauntings to set your spine tingling.  The original had a story that was honestly sad in a very relateable way, and the tone in the trailer hints at a similar narrative touch.

It also comes with a Japanese release date of August 24 on PS4 and Vita, and while there’s no US or PC info yet that’s bound to be forthcoming.  In the meantime, check out the trailer below to get a sense of the nighttime hauntings the two girls need to survive to make it out of the terror alive:
