Heavy Rain Has Sold in Excess of Four Million

Despite no doubt being hard at work at their latest title Detroit: Become Human, Quantic Dream made a somewhat unrelated announcement today that Heavy Rain — what many consider their most acclaimed and generally liked release of the four titles they’ve thus far developed — has, as of March 31, sold in excess of 4.5 million copes across both PS3 & PS4 platforms. You’ll remember that it, together with Beyond: Two Souls, were re-released in March of last year, both as stand-alone titles and as a bundle.

Though not without its problems — not to mention the presence of dialogue that would only go to elevate itself into the realm of internet memes later down the line; “press X to Jason” quickly becoming an unintended parody and joking at modern video games’ abuse of button prompts — Heavy Rain was still an enjoyably, more-grounded affair than the odd juxtapose of real and supernatural affairs that Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy & Beyond: Two Souls eventually became. No doubt this little announcement serves as a way to get Quantic Dream back in the mind-set of many — leading into E3 later this month and what may well offer us some more gameplay of Detroit: Become Human, which will be available once more on Sony’s platform, the PS4, only.
