Many Switch fans have been anticipating more news on the upcoming online service for the system that was originally set to be released this coming fall and Nintendo finally started revealing more by first letting players know the release has been pushed back to 2018. Those who have a Switch will now continue to play online titles free until 2018, at which time they are planned to move into their online service. They also gave final word on a price for the service which will run $3.99 per month, $7.99 for 3 months and $19.99 for a full year.
Nintendo elaborated further on the free monthly games, stating that a variety of classic titles will be available with added online features at any time for anyone with a subscription. The three titles specifically named as being part of this collection were Super Mario Bros. 3, Balloon Fight and Dr. Mario.
The final news was that a free version of their mobile app will be available with some limitations this summer for players to try out before the online service officially releases. Other details, such as eShop deals, are still a planned part of the online service for when it releases next year but weren’t further elaborated on in this update.
