Tekken 7 has been in arcades since 2015, but it finally releases for home consoles today in North America. This twenty-year plus old franchise debuted in arcades in 1994 before releasing on PlayStation in 1995. Tekken has since released six sequels, eight spin-off entries, and three movies. Bandai Namco’s fighting franchise is one of the most popular 3D fighters competing with Virtua Fighter, Dead or Alive, and their very own Soul Calibur series. Tekken 7 features the series first guest character since Tekken 3, Akuma of Capcom’s Street Fighter series. Tekken 7 also introduces their version of supers with Rage Arts and armor breaking moves called Rage Drives.
As a long-time fan and former competitive player of the series I’m very excited to get my hands on it. We’ll have our review of it up very soon. Tekken 7 is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
