New Gameplay Trailer for Piranha Bytes’ Sci-Fi Action RPG, ELEX

With the sci-fi fantasy game closing in on development, THQ Nordic is showing off more of the world of Magalan, where landscapes are a mix of deserts, mountains and jungles. There’s a varied amount of combat, as there’s guns, melee weapons and even magic. Oh – there’s also jet packs. Players have a broad range of ways to explore the world and combat enemies in the sandbox world of Magalan.

ELEX is being developed by Piranha Bytes, the German studio that created the Gothic and Risen series. ELEX takes place in a sci-fi universe, set on an world that’s been blasted by asteroids. Players are assuming the role of a former member of a tribe known as Alb, who are consuming a powerful resource known as ELEX that augments their abilities.

THQ Nordic explains more on ELEX, and the story:

“ELEX, you join the war over a powerful resource that gives people great magic-like powers, but turns them into indifferent cold creatures. You decide if emotions and humaneness or cold synthetic logic will rule the world of Magalan.”

The release date set for October 17 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, preorders are already available via the ELEX official website.

A collector’s edition of the game includes a cloth map of Magalan, an art book, sound track, an amulet, and a ten-inch figure of an Alb mage.
