Pokémon GO Will Celebrate Anniversary Both In-Game and Real Life

In honor of Pokémon GO’s first year, Niantic will be hosting a few events, both in-game and in real life, to celebrate.

Pokémon GO Fest will take place on July 22 at Grant Park in Chicago. There will be Pokémon themed games and events there that people can take part in, but there will also be an exclusive event happening in-game if you’re in Grant Park as well. Tickets for Pokémon GO Fest will be available for purchase in 11 days. You’ll be able to get them here.

Europe and Japan will also get their own events, as Unibail-Rodamco shopping centers will host a number of events throughout the summer, and a “Pikachu Outbreak” will be taking place in Yokohama, Japan.

The rest of us will be able to take part in the Solstice Event, which will run in-game from June 13-20, featuring an increased number of fire- and ice-type Pokémon spawns. Other little things like more XP for curve balls, nice throws, great throws, and excellent throws will be a part of the event as well. Lucky Eggs will also be half off in the store.

The second year of Pokémon GO promises new features, including Battles and legendary Pokémon to catch.
