Bethesda announced the inevitable in their press conference with Doom coming to the VR headsets. While FPS is a tricky thing to manage in VR, the trailer shows off the teleporting mechanic that works so nicely to minimize the motion sickness that can result from a smoother first-person movement scheme. The enemy models are straight from the latest Doom, and the trailer intentionally cuts out a section that looks like it’s going in for the close-up kill that was the latest Doom’s fantastic new wrinkle on the shooting. Worryingly, the video says it’s coming to PS VR and Vive, specifically leaving out the Rift, which doesn’t seem like a great plan. Fingers crossed that Bethesda stays away from playing silly platform compatibility games with what should be a flagship VR shooter.
