E3 2017: Housemarque Delivers Platforming Action With Matterfall Gameplay Trailer

In what felt like a particularly odd omission compared to previous years, Sony decided to display virtually zero support for indie games at their E3 press conference. Which is odd, because there were more than a few promising titles shown during the pre-show and elsewhere that would have gotten people pumped. Take Matterfall, for example, the newest game from Housemarque, who have previously delivered indie gems for Sony such as Resogun and Alienation. The debut gameplay trailer for it dropped today, seen below, and it indeed looks like Housemarque may have another winner on their hands.

Deciding to dabble in the world of 2D platforming and run-and-gun games this time, Matterfall gives us a futuristic sci-fi world being corrupted by Smart Matter, where our hero Avalon Darrow aims to combat it using his ability to control Blue Matter and thus create platforms and shields in the process, which is also where Housemarque’s love of voxels seems to come into play. It looks like a clever, action-packed blast indeed, and with a release date of August 15, we won’t have to wait much longer for Matterfall. So get ready for another rush of adrenaline, PS4 owners…
