E3 2017: Retro Studios Not Working on Metroid Prime 4

Here’s something that might take some of the wind out of your Metroid hype sail: Nintendo of America’s own Bill Trinen has stated that Retro Studios — the original team behind the acclaimed Prime trilogy of games — will not be returning in the sub-series’ forth installment, instead stating that the game will be led by “a new team” with long-standing producer Kensuke Tanabe leading the project. Which begs the question: just what on Earth has happened to Retro Studios?

Tanabe had previously been among the producer credits during the Prime trilogy era, so it’s not all doom-and-gloom. Here’s hoping Metroid Prime 4 remains in good hands and turns out just as well as the previous titles.
