If you’ve already purchased Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood, chances are you already have the upcoming expansion downloaded and installed. There was a bit of an issue that plagued some PlayStation 4 users today, one that forced a complete reinstallation of the game, but hopefully this isn’t representative of what we can expect during the launch. Today is beginning of early access, giving players who pre-ordered the extensive expansion the ability to get the jump on the competition by a whole four days.
If you had completed update 3.56 a few months ago, you may be wondering where you need to go in order to access Stormblood. Your final scene took place in The East Shroud, but in order to start the Stormblood storyline, you will need to travel to Mor Dhona and talk to Alphinaud in Rising Stones. It’s that simple. From here, you will finally be given access to the long awaited second expansion.
For anyone new to the game, you will have a long trek ahead of you as Stormblood does require you to complete both A Realm Reborn and Heavensward to gain access. You do have the option to purchase an item that will allow you to bypass all of the content, but that does come at a rather steep price of $24.99.
