We have to be honest: E3 2017 was a letdown. Although those who attended for the first time surely had an incredible experience, any seasoned veteran will tell you the show had its issues. We’ll address the elephant in the room first, which is the overcrowding that plagued this year’s event. We don’t want to sound elitist; the problem isn’t that E3 experimented with allowing the general public in, but rather that E3 was already overcrowded as it was and the influx of people made it difficult for us to properly tackle appointments. Outside of that, there was a notable lack of surprises. Many of this year’s big games had already been announced by the time the EA press conference started, which quelled excitement.
That being said, there was still a bevy of great games on display, enough that we had no issue filling out the many categories of our awards. Marvel’s Spider-Man dazzled in its extended gameplay demo, Beyond Good & Evil 2 was finally admitted to exist and some of the most impressive debuts were from indie titles. From Best Trailer to Best of Show, we’ve compiled a respectable list of the best games the show had to offer and present them to you below.
