It spent a ton of time in Early Access, but ARK: Survival Evolved may have defied expectations — bad ones — by actually having an official, final release. That said, developer Studio Wildcard also launched additional content to accompany their game on release: an orchestral soundtrack, a free expansion map called Ragnorak, and two new creatures: an otter and a Phoenix. Be aware, the phoenix is exclusive to the Scorched Earth expansion pack, but it is indeed the mythological creature rather than a dinosaur with an elaborate name. Those hoping to keep getting ARK content (including the Scorched Earth expansion) can also drop an entire $45 for the Season Pass. Like with any game these days, it’s best to take these pricey commitments in baby steps. ARK’s survival through the Early Access phase of its development may be a cushion-y enough fact to lean on for potential adopters.
See the launch trailer below. ARK: Survival Evolved is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Linux.
