Games Done Quick Announces Harvey Relief Done Quick

The folks behind Games Done Quick have announced Harvey Relief Done Quick (thank you Polygon), running through this weekend the charity event will raise money to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey that hit Texas and now Louisiana.

Games Done Quick is currently searching for a charity to benefit, the group specifically looking for a charity related to Houston — being the most impacted. Games Done Quick is currently accepting submissions from speedrunners worldwide. Those who do get accepted will be able to participate in the speedrun attempt remotely via the Games Done Quick Twitch channel. The channel will begin broadcasting and accepting donations from Friday, September 1 at 8 PM ET through Sunday, September 3 at 8 PM ET.

While Games Done Quick usually does a biannual Twitch stream of Awesome Games Done Quick and Summer Games Done Quick, this is a wonderful show for support by those affected by Harvey. Games Done Quick has been raising millions of dollars for charity organizations since 2010, most recently Doctors Without Borders.

Tropical Storm Harvey has flooded entire residents and towns reaching 50 inches in some places and leaving many in Houston with nothing. It’s estimated that 30,000 people have been displaced from their homes, with at least twenty dead from the storm. Anything to help those affected will mean the world.
