NCSoft’s Blade & Soul is one of the more popular of the free-to-play MMOs out there. It’s not hard to see why. The action is immediate, giving the player a real sense of battling in the world, while the vibrant graphics attract the curious. In fact, the PvP element just finished up a heated tournament at PAX this last weekend. We liked it around here, too. Part of the drive behind this popularity is the continuing stream of updates and a fresh batch were announced today.
On September 13, the Rise of the Gunslinger expansion will launch, featuring a new ranged class, along with a crafting system revamp and a new Tower of Memory event. The class is an interesting one, as the Gunslinger focuses on pouring out damage while utilizing quick dodges with the help of a grappling hook. Players who decide to go with this archetype will be able to explore the Flame or Shadow branches in character customization. With Flame, the player can build up explosive rounds to fuel their special attacks, while Shadow has the player building Dark Light stacks. Either branch looks cool, as the class is well animated, including using flourishes for reloads.
