Axiom Verge’s release date on the Nintendo Switch eShop has been bumped up due to a delay with the retail version.
The excellent action-platform-exploration game by Tom Happ is flying on the Nintendo eShop a little earlier than expected. Originally slated for an October 17 release, players looking to download the game digitally can now do so on October 5. The reason for the date change is the fact that the retail Axiom Verge: Multiverse Edition has been delayed to November. So, now those who want to play the game digitally won’t have to suffer a delay.
Axiom Verge takes inspiration from such classics as Metroid, Contra, and Bionic Commando, but throws in its own twists. Utilizing ‘glitches’ as a gameplay mechanic, players are able to scramble enemies, corrupt environments, and even phase through walls to discover hidden areas. In our review, we found Axiom Verge to be a good game packed with lots of content.
Axiom Verge is out on the Switch eShop on October 5 and will set you back $19.99. The game is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS Vita, and Wii U.
