DICE Reveals All Star Wars Battlefront II Maps, Game Modes

DICE and EA have revealed every map, game mode, and other details that will launch in Star Wars Battlefront II.

Both developer and publisher have been going on for months about how much bigger Battlelfront II is compared to the original game, and now both are finally showing off what’s going to be in the game at launch. On November 17, Star Wars Battlefront II will launch with 18 locations, 14 heroes, and 39 vehicles compared to Star Wars Battlefront’s 4 locations, six heroes, and eleven vehicles.

The eighteen locations have been pulled from all three trilogies, though the majority appear to be from the Original Trilogy. Four will be exclusive to the campaign, but the others will be multiplayer focused. A few, like Unknown Regions, will likely be exclusive to the Starfighter Assault game mode. Notable absences include Mustafar, Coruscant, Jabba’s Palace, and Scarif. Here are all the locations arriving at launch:

  • Death Star II
  • Kashyyyk
  • Ryloth
  • Jakku
  • Endor
  • Hoth
  • Kamino
  • Starkiller Base
  • Yavin IV
  • Mos Eisley
  • Unknown Regions
  • Naboo
  • Takodana
  • Endor
  • Sullust (Single Player Only)
  • Bespin (Single Player Only)
  • Vardos (Single Player Only)
  • Pillio (Single Player Only)

In addition to these locations, DICE also confirmed that the game will ship with five game modes. That’s not as many as the first game, but considering how half-baked some of those modes were, it’s probably best DICE focuses on making these modes great. A new Arcade mode will allow players to practice against AI bots before heading online. Here’s every mode:

  • Starfighter Assault
  • Galactic Assault
  • Blast
  • Strike
  • Heroes vs. Villains

What EA and DICE did not address were who the playable heroes will be, but the total number suggests we aren’t getting many new characters. A leaked roster revealed that nine of the heroes would be returning from the first game and that Iden Veriso would be the tenth original trilogy character. That means, at launch, there will only be two heroes representing the Prequel and Sequel trilogies, which is quite disappointing. It is unknown when or if General Grevious will be added to Star Wars Battlefront II.

Star Wars Battlefront II is out November 17 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. An open beta kicks off October 4 for anyone who pre-orders the game, and October 6 for everyone else.
