République VR, Anniversary Edition Vinyl Announced

Developer Camouflaj has announced that République will be coming to Samsung Gear VR this winter.

République VR, which was revealed this month during Oculus Connect 4 in San Jose, California, will include all five episodes from Camouflaj’s action-adventure stealth title.

According to Camouflaj, République VR has been “Rebuilt from the ground up” in collaboration with developer Darkwind.

République VR is “highly battery efficient and utilizes single-pass rendering techniques,” allowing a performance improvement of up to 30 percent in “key areas.”

Camouflaj’s acclaimed title is also compatible with Samsung Galaxy S7 and S8, as well as supporting touchpad, motion controllers and Bluetooth controllers.

République VR was not the only announcement made by Camouflaj.

République Anniversary Edition Soundtrack, which has been made in partnership with music label Brave Wave, will be released on streaming services, CD, iTunes and vinyl.

However, the Anniversary Edition Soundtrack is a limited release on vinyl, Camouflaj confirmed, which will include fifteen tracks, concept art, photography and anecdotes from the development team and a code for a free copy of République VR.

Camouflaj has not revealed the price for the Anniversary Edition Soundtrack or an exact release date for République VR.

“From the very beginning, the team set out to build the quintessential mobile VR game,” says Ryan Payton, founder and designer at Camouflaj. “We are so excited to finally lift the veil on this incredibly challenging project.

“I’m happy to say that the hard work has paid off — République VR plays and looks absolutely stunning despite the obvious hardware limitations.”

Inspired by the work of George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four and also Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil and Demon’s Souls, République is set in a totalitarian state and has the player helping protagonist Hope with her escape.

République featured voice acting from Metal Gear Solid duo David Hayter and Jennifer Hale. Additionally, the title was directed by Ryan Payton, who was a producer on Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

République is available on PlayStation 4, PC, macOS and iOS and Android devices.
