All-but-confirmed earlier in the year during Nintendo’s January Switch Presentation, Atlus have finally revealed that the speculated next entry in the Shin Megami Tensei series is indeed the fifth mainline game, Shin Megami Tensei V. The announcement was made during today’s livestream in which a new teaser trailer was released — providing a few new visual clues as to the setting and premise this time round.
Though it starts out fairly ordinary, with what is a rather more modern-day setting of Tokyo, it quickly shifts tone with the numerous corpses of demons — quickly followed up with what looks to be one of the game’s main protagonists swarmed by similarly demonic foes. Shin Megami Tensei V is so far confirmed to be releasing on Nintendo Switch at a still-unspecified date though it’s unclear whether the game will once again be a full exclusive on Nintendo’s system. It will mark the first numbered game since 2013’s Shin Megami Tensei IV on the 3DS — a spin-off tieing into the same story, Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, released last Fall. Check out the brief new trailer below.
