Gran Turismo Sport Claims Top Spot in UK Charts

In a year chock full of racing games — both arcade-focused and ones aiming to simulate the proper look and feel of the sport — Sony’s long-running motorsport series in the form of Gran Turismo, is back at the top of the UK charts with the latest entry, Gran Turismo Sport. While first week sales were higher than previous entry, 2013’s Gran Turismo 6 on the PS3, it’s 2010’s Gran Turismo 5 that remains the best selling entrant with more than three times the first week sales than what Sport has accumulated.

As a result, FIFA 18 — which had remained top for three weeks — drops a place to number two with two other new releases battling it out for third spot. In the end, it was Ubisoft’s South Park: The Fractured But Whole that managed to beat out 2K’s WWE 2K18. Elsewhere, Nintendo’s Friday release via Fire Emblem Warriors could only climb as high as number 16; THQ Nordic’s fantasy/sci-fi RPG Elex reached number 25 while Rebellion’s current-gen remake of Rogue Trooper Redux enters at number 37.
