The Xbox One’s Back Compat program may be horribly-named, but it has led to the Xbox One being an incredible overall value as a console. Now, it’s even better as over a dozen original Xbox games are now playable on the console. In some cases, you get some of the best-possible games on the platform playable now – along with some sleeper hits that didn’t get their just due in their own time.
- Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
- Dead to Rights
- Red Faction II
- Fuzion Frenzy
- King of Fighters: Neowave
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
- Ninja Gaiden Black
- Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
- Grabbed by the Ghoulies
- Bloodrayne II
BLACK is an outstanding FPS and has some of the best sound design for a game in that genre, while The Sands of Time on Xbox is the definitive edition of that game – offering up the first two Prince of Persia entries and a more consistent overall experience than the HD version released years later. Ninja Gaiden Black is an action-platforming classic, while Psychonauts adds another top-notch 3D platformer to the mix. Crimson Skies is possibly the best dogfighting game ever, and while the loss of Xbox Live playback hurts it, the core campaign is worth playing in its own right.
