Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Added to Sega Forever Collection

Sega on Tuesday announced that the critically acclaimed Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has been added to its Sega Forever collection.

The announcement marks the 25th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog 2’s release in Japan for the Sega Genesis.

According to Sega, November 21 is being referred to as “Sonic 2sday” to celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog 2’s milestone.

Like other Sega Forever titles, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is available as a free-to-play download on iOS and Android devices. However, the free version does include ad support.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 can be purchased for $1.99 (£1.99/€2.29), which removes the ads that feature in the mobile version.

“For users who have previously purchased Sonic The Hedgehog 2, the ad-free version can be found in your purchase history,” Sega said.

Sega has confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will support the same features as other Sega Forever titles, including leaderboards, cloud saves and controller support.

Sega Forever launched earlier this year for iOS and Android devices. The service offers titles from Sega’s history, spanning multiple franchises and consoles.

Last month, Sega revealed that 1991’s Decap Attack would be the latest addition to Sega Forever.
