Originally a mini-game included with 1995’s unreleased Penn & Teller’s Smoke and Mirrors on Sega CD, Desert Bus was devised to be as monotonous as possible. If not for charity streams bringing attention to the title, it would have likely driven off into the sunset long ago.
But now it’s back and in virtual reality. As with the original, you’ll be tasked with driving from Tucson to Las Vegas in eight real time hours (before driving back). Aside from offering up a VR perspective behind the wheel, you’ll also be able to wrangle in up to four friends for multiplayer.
What happens in multiplayer? The others sit patiently or throw paper at the driver. Desert Bus VR works for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive and is available as a free download on Steam.
