Gritty JRPG Pixel Noir Enters Beta, Receives New Trailer

There are several Kickstarter success stories over the past few years that we may have all let slip through the cracks, and Pixel Noir is one of them. An isometric JRPG noir tale with an old-school art style, developers SWDTech Games have created a promising title in the vein of Shadowrun, which BadLand Games is helping to publish. And there’s no better time to shine a spotlight on the game then now, as the beta release has been announced for backers to check out soon, complete with a new trailer which you can check out below.

Set in the gritty Pinnacle City, you play as a down-on-their-luck detective solving a variety of cases while trying to clear your name, having been framed for the murder of your partner ten years ago. This journey leads to some new discoveries, revelations you may not want to know about, and threats that may be more…supernatural than expected. The beta will bring a whole new chapter of story with various sidequests, an expanded city to explore, a new Overkill mechanic, animated comic book cutscenes, and more, as detailed in the latest Kickstarter update. For those of you interested who didn’t back the game but like what you see, though, Pixel Noir will be out in 2018 for PC, XB1, PS4, and Vita, and may definitely be one to keep your eye on.
