With the help of Tencent, a Chinese technology company, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will make its way to mobile platforms, according to a statement from the company (via GamesIndustry.biz).
The incredibly popular survival shooter has recently become the best selling game on Steam, and coupled with the massive Chinese mobile market, which makes up 25% of the world’s mobile income, it makes sense that Bluehole would want to get into that market. Tencent and Bluehole are also working together to bring PUBG to China. The mobile version of PUBG will come first to China, with no word yet on whether it will come to the rest of the world.
Rumors of a Tencent/Bluehole buyout have been going around as well, so if the project goes smoothly, maybe things will progress there. The report from Tencent says that more information about both the Chinese version of PUBG and the mobile version will be coming soon, so stay tuned.
