The Zelda game that many are calling the best of the series — and for some, one of the best video games of all time — has just hit a new milestone. The Switch version for Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has now sold an estimated four million units since its launch earlier this year on March 3. But the Wii U iteration has faired surprisingly well too, managing to sell through just over a million, bringing the total sales of the game across both platforms, to five million.
The Switch version alone has already managed to sell more than the previous 3D entry, Skyward Sword, which has sold just short of four million since it launched in November 2011 for the Wii (3.96 million to be precise). It now means, if recent estimates on total hardware sales are correct, that the attach rate for Breath of the Wild on the Switch is now roughly one for every two consoles sold.
