Spike Chunsoft to Open North American Subsidiary

Spike Chunsoft, the Japanese developer whom are perhaps best-known as of late for creating the Danganronpa and Zero Escape series, are to open a new North American subsidiary, the company has announced. Based in Long Beach, California, the wholly-owned subsidiary it’s stated will be responsible for the company’s localisation efforts for the West.

The company has previously supplied localisation support for Western games releasing in Japan and itself relied on third parties to provide localisation for its own Japan-developed titles coming across to North America and Europe. In its accompanying press release, the company acknowledge that Japanese titles have only grown in popularity — out-stretching the once “niche” title they previously held and as such, see this as an opportunity to meet the growing demand for anticipated games stemming from outside the western regions.
