The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wins Game of the Year at The Game Awards

In a telecast that spanned more than three hours (including the pre-show) and featured numerous trailer debuts, musical arrangements, a random performance by Phoenix and even a few awards for good measure, the night came to a close with the announcement The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild had won Game of the Year. The game also took home Best Game Direction and Best Action Adventure Game.

Competition was tough this year, with most every nomination (even PUGB, which technically isn’t even out in full release) garnering intense critical acclaim. To view the full winners and nominees, check out our handy list.
