We haven’t heard much of Payday 2’s voyage onto Switch since it was originally unveiled during April’s Nintendo Direct, outside of an ocassional update from developers Starbreeze Studios that they were still underway with bringing their co-operative shooter to Nintendo’s platform. Today though, the studio has finally given us a release date and has confirmed that Payday 2 will release February 27 in North America with Europe getting the game four days earlier.
505 Games have been confirmed once again as publishing the game, providing both a physical retail version alongside a digital release on the Nintendo eShop. Payday 2 originally launched in August 2013 for the PS3 & Xbox 360 with a current-gen port for PS4 & Xbox One arriving just shy of two years afterwards in June 2015. Payday 2 marks the series’ debut on a Nintendo platform and the game’s confirmed February marks four-and-a-half years since the game’s original launch. Just in time for the introduction of Nintendo’s paid online service early next year. Star breeze also confirm that the VR version of Payday 2 has today also entered beta state.
