It’s the beginning of 2018 which means a new year full of video game events fans love, and first on the list is Awesome Games Done Quick taking place at the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport Hotel in Herndon, VA. The bi-annual event is put on by Games Done Quick, a grassroots organization known for its speedrunning charity events, they’re even known for putting up impromptu events as they did for Hurricane victims last year.
AGDQ kicks off the marathon of speedrunning games on Sunday, January 7 at 11:30 a.m. EST and will run through January 14, 2018. This week-long marathon of games will clock in 130 hours of speedrunning glory, featuring over 150 speedrunners and their chosen games. This year will speedrunners coming together in support of the Prevent Cancer Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to prevention and early detection of cancer.
For all watching needs AGDQ 2018 will be broadcast live on Twitch be sure to not miss speedrunners at their best. If not familiar with speedrunning, it is defined as the art of beating a video game as quickly as possible. Speedruns rely on tricks, extensive planning and an extremely high level of skill from those dedicated enough to attempt these feats.
